My girlfriend is coming to rhode island, she currently lives in texas. We wanted to apply for our marriage licence when she comes up. She is going to be living with me for a few months before she leaves to go back to her job. Do I need to apply for the marriage licence in texas? Rhode island law says to apply where the bride resides. If she’s living with me, does that mean that requirement doesn’t apply?
if I went down there, do I have to apply for the marriage course? How much would a town hall wedding cost? We really don’t wanna go ballistic with super formal, and informal is a little difficult cause I got to come back to Rhode Island after, so I can’t live in texas, due to work.

It says that if the bride or groom lives in RI, you should apply for the license at the clerk’s office in the bride/groom’s town. You’ll have to get the license in your town, but it can be used anywhere throughout the state.
